Support Center: Physical Fitness
According to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, "Health-related physical fitness consists of those components of physical fitness that have a relationship with good health. The components are commonly defined as body composition, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, muscular endurance, and strength".
Fitness does not simply mean being thin. Rather, it includes qualities that enable people to be at their highest potential in performing vigorous physical activities. Doing more physical activity improves your fitness and health, no matter what size or shape you are.
Physical activity involves the performance of the heart, lungs, and the muscles of the body, and can affect us both mentally and emotionally.
The state of being physically fit helps you feel better and have more energy. You burn more calories when you're at rest, which can help you lose weight.
